Make Your Hero Real
A Democratic SculptureA sculpture project by artist Nicola Verlato with the active participation of the Chelsea community.
Nicola Verlato’s work is an experiment in art and democracy. In an effort to give form to the dreams and aspirations of a community, the artist is holding a series of polls and open forums, where residents of Chelsea have a chance to vote on a character whom they think is most deserving of a public sculpture in their neighborhood. The resulting life-size sculpture will be displayed at the park at 14th Street and 9th Avenue.
